Free for All Friday No. 373 by Nan

Before writing this post, I was emailing with Steve about how we spent our holidays. Family...traditions...memories.

Have you ever looked at a previous year's diary and saw something that triggered a long-lost memory, something important that you'd completely forgotten about?

Of course, since it's Friday, you're free to discuss anything organizer-related!

  1. Hi everybody! I have an unrelated to the post question: have anybody tried to change the leather color of a Filofax? I have an a5 calipso in pink that I want to paint into black or just darker color because it's getting used, and I don't like it. What do you think?

    1. I can remember reading that someone had painted a few of their Filofaxes, but I can't remember who it was. I think it was successful but I do wonder how the paint would last - it might well end up chipping or wearing just as much as the coating some leather Filofxes do.
Of course there was the fantastic A5 Tracyley - search this blog for the post about that one!

    2. You could use shoe polish- a couple of coats should work- but it would be irreversible!!

  3. I often look through my old inserts and am reninded of things I'd forgotten. I usually use my diary section for some planning but also I update it with things that have happened. I usually go through my old inserts and note down any significant happenings for each year and keep the resulting list and then dispose of the inserts. I end up with a couple of pages for each year. I keep those lists in another Filofax. It's handy to remember when (other people's) babies have been born and when I last saw my Australian/New Zealand based cousins etc, as well as more mundane things like car repairs or boilers breaking!

  4. I save my planners to do just that. It's like using a jar to collect good memories over the year, and it takes me down so many paths, I have to remind myself to come back to today.

  5. Been checking out the refill options and layouts at Agendio.com....been debating about size to get.....(what's new?....)....

Really like the A5 size page layouts.....

Been discussing with Agendio about an option to get FC Compact size paper refills. Prefer that size over FF Personal due to the extra width that I find makes the pages more useful for taking notes...

They probably will add this option. However, if any of you would also be interested in this size, please let Agendio know.

Also, please note that I've found Agendio to be very receptive to suggestions I've shared with them. So, seems like good company.

  6. My planner saved the day on a legal issue during my divorce. The issue in question was 2 years old. I pulled out that particular planner and was able to easily reference the meeting and notes.

  7. I use dividers in my Franklin pocket binder. Behind some of them are different sections. For those that prefer a table of contents instead of dividers how do you handle additional sheets when you have numbered the pages? Do you start again or erase the numbers and renumber?

  8. Hello! I was directed to this blog via Plannerisms. I am thinking about switching from a Franklin Planner to a Filofax. The only thing is that I love the 2 pages per day setup of Franklin. What does Filofax have that would compare? I've tried to navigate the website but haven't gotten anywhere. Any suggestions would be so helpful. To give you an idea of my work, I'm a college professor with numerous independent projects in addition to teaching courses. Thanks.
