  1. Shame they decided only to do this via Instagram. I'm sure I'm not the only one not on that platform. It'd be good if they also offered options such as e-mailing the design (though that won't give them the marketing impulse they seem to be after ....)

  2. Ditto what Graham said. It would be a great Valentine's Day gift for whoever wins.

  3. I don't think this is a marketing impulse knowing VdS. But recognizing what platform works for their existing customers and what works for VdS with limited staffing. In the past there was a youtube/video contest. That really limited the participants. VdS mixes up their specials. Not too long ago it was 15% off because Petra was 15 weeks pregnant. Every contest doesn't work for everyone but they usually have one eventually for everyone. :) I love that this time it isn't a popularity contest.

  4. As Tammy rightly says, not every platform is going to work for everyone. Naturally it needs to assist with getting the brand known as widely as possible in return for the prize for the lucky person that wins.

The previous video competition wasn't very successful in terms of the number of entries. After just over 24 hours of this latest competition there are already several entries on Instragram.

You can view them here: https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/vdsdreamplanner/ the hashtag in the post.

Instagram is one of the easiest of the social media platforms to use, true it only works on a smart phone not a computer, but give it a try.

  5. Sure, it's entirely up to VdS how they run their competitions, and only they know the reasons behind their decisions. If it were me, I'd be interested in seeing as many entrants as possible as I'd like to see what components of planners people regard as essential as possible to help with internal design, so I'd make entering open to all, not the minority. In my ideal world the default approach to everything would be inclusion rather than exclusion. I know I'm an old fuddy duddy Luddite who already feels uncomfortable being on three social media platforms and would have to have a gun pointing between the shoulder blades to join any more, but this approach of limiting participation to just members of one of the many available platforms leaves me with more negative feelings than positive towards VdS. Just my opinion!
